About her
As an ex-kitten, now more of a moggy (still playful but with slightly less boundless energy) I still look forward with expectations to... who knows what? Life is intriguing, sometimes run-of-the-mill, and then unexpected... Classic FM may bring the answer.
Renoir-ish rather than Michelin-miss, I am average-looking but with (I'm told) beautiful blue eyes.
I enjoy walking, cycling and particularly swimming, which is just as well as I need something to offset my love of food - cooking and eating. I love travel and try to pick up a smattering of the language wherever I go, although I am now fulfilling my dream of living in France full time. One of the happiest times of my life (so far) was when I spent two years living and working on farms and market stalls in France, but now I'm retired I hope to make my ideal home and garden here. I have also travelled solo to Finland, Russia, Spain, America - but France is my great love.
I am an avid reader, and also enjoy going to concerts. I might take up line-dancing again.
My friends and colleagues would say I'm cheerful and outgoing, although I think I'm shy. I used to work in beautiful surroundings (I was PA to the owner of a stately home) and peace and quiet are important to me as a confirmed country girl, although I also enjoy entertaining friends and going out, but not to big cities any more.
I'm a keen amateur photographer and am proud to have had some of my photos used in local and national publications. I also enjoy writing and sewing - and have enjoyed clay pigeon shooting and riding. I love driving - although I have absolutely no sense of direction - which leads to some very interesting places!
I would like to say I'm a romantic, but not in a "soppy" way. I do adore being given flowers - whether hand-picked from a field, or a beautiful bouquet - even more than chocolates (which I love), and try to make thoughtful, meaningful gestures of my own.
About her ideal match
I don't know what that elusive "thing" is that makes the right connection between people, but I'm still optimistically looking. A smile and a twinkle in the eye are probably a good start. I've come close several times, but as I'm still looking, it obviously wasn't close enough.
I don't believe that couples should be inseparable - a measure of independence on both sides is good - but to be good friends with shared core values is a solid base for a relationship. Shared interests, too, are useful but not essential.
Politically I'd like to meet someone on the left of centre (I can't abide greed or selfishness). Anything else would lead to very spirited discussions - but wouldn't necessarily rule someone out. Kindness is a great virtue.
I appreciate someone who dresses well - that is, someone who can at least colour-co-ordinate their wardrobe, even if it's just jeans and a jumper most of the time - and who doesn't wear white socks (sorry, a bete noir of mine) or t-shirts. A crisp white shirt almost always does it for me!
I like someone who can talk about an interesting life or experiences they've had, and I see success as someone who can enjoy whatever interests them in life. I like someone who knows what's happening in the world (news and culture) and is happy to discuss things and maybe even participate.
A perfect date would probably be a meal in a decent restaurant overlooking the sea, where we could walk on the beach afterwards if we'd hit it off.
Anyone who has a house in the countryside in France or who spends time there would be top of my list!
