About him
Recently I have semi-retired after a long career as a teacher in a large, successful independent school. I have enjoyed, travelling, skiing, singing, directing for the stage over the years for drama, opera and musicals. At one time I spent a lot of time on stage myself, most often in principal roles and would love to be able to do that again. I am an active founder member of a choir from university days still performing several times a year and undertaking overseas tours. I also enjoy a good country walk and I aim to take more exercise to get fitter and lose those waistline inches that have appeared in recent years. My friends would describe me as a friendly and very enthusiastic person who really does enjoy company but I am not a party animal and I need to find more ways of meeting like-minded people. I listen mostly to classical music I love the opera especially, and try to get to Covent Garden, the ENO and Glyndebourne as much as I can. I like popular music too, even though my experience of it is pretty limited. I like the theatre, cinema and TV too. I have discovered India in the last few years and would love to spend more time travelling there and to other remote corners of the world that are on my "bucket list", preferably avoiding five star luxury, staying in local hotels and getting to know something of the countries and cultures. I prefer dogs to cats and I enjoy the garden , I am reasonably practical about the house and while my interest comes and goes I enjoy painting, watercolours only so far.
