About her
This needs careful thought and consideration. I have been a widow now for over six years and believe that I may be ready for a committed relationship. I miss male companionship, especially at dinner parties and theatre etcetera. Also I would enjoy a critical ear with whom to explore ideas and thoughts. I genuinely like and respect men.
Food and wine play an important part in my life. In my opinion there is nothing more civilised that sharing food, wine and good conversation around a table with friends. I have been involved in the performing arts for many years. From legitimate theatre to opera both directing and performing. At present help out on occasion with a professional opera company.
I hosted wine tastings regularly for a nationally known wine merchant for several years. I now run a "Taste & Rate Wine Club" which is a slightly profitable, pleasant hobby.
I also enjoy quiet evenings with a simple meal and good company.
I have subscribed to the Economist and the Spectator for about 30 years and usually read most of the content. The political views of The Spectator are quite often not in step with mine but I do enjoy the excellent journalism.
I have lived in the USA, Australia, South Africa. I am the daughter of a British Army officer and, having spent my youth in places like Libya and Germany, I acquired no meaningful educational qualifications at all. So by necessity I have been an entrepreneur all of my adult life. I have owned and run a wide range of businesses in the USA, Australia, South Africa and the UK. I have made my own personal fortune, lost it and then made it back again -- all several times over.

I have for a long time had a criterion for friends. They must have the ability to have fun and they must be basically good people. This criterion is surprisingly difficult to find. I am acquainted with some good people who are no fun a all, these I tolerate up to a point. I have also know some individuals who are a heck of a lot of fun but are no damn good, these I avoid. Someone who would be interested in theatre, opera, fine dining out on occasions, "good" wine bargains (I was for some years an agent for Virgin Wines), current affairs. country living and so on would be nice. However, I am open to new interests. Distance is a bit of an issue. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get acquainted if a long distance is involved.
