About her
Now that I'm an empty nester, I'm looking for some company to have great conversations and a laugh with, but I'm just as happy in companionable silence sitting by a crackling fire, reading or watching a film on TV curled up together. I spent a good many years as a single mum, bringing up my daughter so that she would be able to head into the world confident and independent, so being on my own for a while has meant staying in perhaps more than I would have liked.
Since getting a dog I really enjoy getting out in nature for the fresh air and that hit of wellbeing as we wander through the trees and by the river, me wrestling the occasional chunk of bread from him that somebody’s left for the ducks!
I love being by the sea or up a mountain - usually taking the easy route by cable car 😊 - as most photos of me in those locations show me to be at my happiest and most relaxed. On a beach, you're more likely to find me walking along the water's edge or sitting watching the waves than perfecting a tan on a sunbed, though outdoors I do like to feel the warmth of the sun or a tropical breeze on my skin or listen to the sounds of crunchy leaves underfoot.
That said, my day to day existence tends to see me behind a desk on a laptop, between those trips to the woods with my four-legged companion, or heading out with my camera in the impossible quest for the ‘perfect’ shot. Photography is one of my ways to destress and enjoy nature.
I like being spontaneous and doing something different - so would enjoy being surprised now and again (in a good way) or introduced to new activities which interest you. I think it's quite important for each partner to have their own space as well as doing things together, so I don't expect you to share all my interests or for me to share all of yours, as long as they are compatible with each other's values.
About her ideal match
You should be kind and considerate, with a love of travel. It would be nice to take occasional weekends away (or longer), go out to dinner, a film, theatre or other adventures. Ideally you'll be curious about the world, interested in and enthusiastic to learn about lots of different things. You will have a good and kindly sense of humour and be able to hold a conversation (not argumentative) and make me smile. You'll be understanding and tolerant of others - able to stand in another person's shoes rather than firing off criticism.
I'm not a gym bunny but I'm keen to head into the next few decades with some degree of health and fitness. I've travelled a fair bit and I'm looking forward to a chance of sharing new horizons with that special someone. Life's too short for brooding or moodiness, so you'll definitely be a glass half full kind of guy - more Tigger than Eeyore 😉

Why wouldn't you want to get to know someone as fabulous as Liz, who has so much to offer? She's warm, funny, honest and a loyal friend.
Family values are important to Liz. Her beloved daughter is working overseas (as Liz did for many years), and an appreciation of this wonderful (some of the time) world we live in also holds great value for Liz (although she's forgiving of my own appalling knowledge of geography and world affairs).
You're also going to have to come to an arrangement with the current man in her life - her dog. I'd take it fairly gently before you start arguing about who gets to sit where on the sofa!
One of the things I feel is a real strength in relationships is wanting to be together, rather than needing to be together. I know so many people who have stayed in unsatisfying relationships. Liz has (mysteriously) been single for a while, and she does the independent thing superbly. She doesn't need you to complete her, but boy will she add an extra dimension of intelligence, integrity, interest, imagination and intimacy into your life. You'd be idiotic not to want to find out more.
The world is made for sharing. That sunset isn't as special if you're watching it alone. We all need a witness to our lives. Liz offers spontaneity, enthusiasm, adventure, and a lust for travel. What experiences might you share together?
