About him
I'm intelligent, analytical, focused with a dry sense of humour, a thinker and problem solver, but I like to talk and communicate too. I'm not easily depressed, never give up and bounce back from adversity. I'm affectionate, open, loyal and a perpetual optimist, young at heart, always ready to take on new challenges and love to laugh.
After my divorce I moved in May 2012 with my elderly Springer spaniel, who I sadly lost in November 2013, into an old converted stone barn above the village of Plazac in the Dordogne. I sold it in 2021 and designed a new, modern house that I've built on a charming piece of land in the commune of Fleurac. During the project I lived for 27 months on the land in an old caravan, an experience I wouldn't like to repeat, but which I was invited by the Daily Telegraph to write about.
My life is everything I'd hoped it would be and could only be better by having the right person to share it with. I'm really only interested in potential partners of about my age and someone already living in France would be ideal, but not necessarily essential. However, if you could never contemplate moving to France, then you'd be wasting your time and mine, sorry.
Although I like foreign holidays, I'm not interested in travelling the world as some ladies seem to want to do. I love my life as it is, except that I'd love to have that special person to share it with. Someone who's active, independent in outlook and easy going but at the heart a loving companion as I would hope to be.
So what's missing? Maybe a few trips a year back to the UK to see friends and family and also to go to the theatre, which is something I miss, especially good musicals. I also love classical music and have never been to a ballet and would like to find out what I've been missing even if I end up not being a great fan.

I'd like to meet someone who's feminine, intelligent, with an open, independent mind and willing to accept me as I am. Funny, too, would be a lovely bonus. Oh, and not too tall...say up to about 5'5". I'm not needy or self-centred and hopefully neither will she be. And I think that partners need to be friends first and foremost, don't you?
I love flying and have a pilot's licence and a small two-seat aircraft which I fly back to the UK from time to time. At the time of writing (December 2023) I've been busy working and doing DIY in my new house, which is now coming to an end, and I'm looking forward to starting on the garden in the Spring.
