About him
I am a fit and healthy man in my sixties. eat and drink sensible and exercise regularly. I play golf and get down the gym regularly to keep up a level of flexibility and fitness. I use my bike for getting around the neighbourhood and do an occasional big ride.I ski and enjoy the splendour of the mountains in the winter and in the summer for hiking. I do an Exodus trip each year, although not as strenuous now. I have done a lot of sailing but I don't do much now.

On a cerebral level, having graduated in engineering, I am at home with maths and science. I am interested in the arts. As one gets older one starts to take more interest in history and understand more about who we are and how our culture evolved. I am not religious, I am agnostic but respect other people's values and appreciate how faith has helped to create civilized societies.
'If music be the food of love play on' well. Music certainly does invoke strong emotions. I have loved music all my life in all its forms. I dabble with several musical instruments but would not class myself as musician. I would love to think that one day I could play my grand piano properly. However that is a bit of a pipe dream. But as the song says 'if you don't have a dream - how you gonna have a dream come true?'
I have enjoyed several close relationships and shared some wonderful moments. In retrospect I have made mistakes and could have handled things better. Perhaps I allowed external influences to control my life - mais je ne regrette rien. I believe that we are governed by our subconscious mind and what we do in the end is what is best for ourselves. I am optimistic. I believe that the key ingredient for happiness is to be at peace with oneself. If along this rocky road called life, we happen to come into contact with somebody special then this experience should cherished. How we should live our lives is nicely summarized in Disderata - a beautiful piece of literature.

I would love to meet a person with whom I could share some my interests, someone who has a love for life and has a positive outlook. Being fit and healthy is important as I am an energetic person. I love to explore new avenues so I would be happy to share some of her interests. I do not consider myself to be a highly academic person but I do have a lively interest in a many subjects. Therefore my ideal match would be somebody who is reasonably well educated and interested in a range subjects .The most important thing is to develop a good friendship and enjoy life's wonderful experiences together whilst at the same time not feeling totally dependent. The idea situation would be for us to live within 20 miles of each other but not necessarily on each other's doorstep. However I would not rule out a long distance relationship.
