Q : What's the difference between a naturalist and a naturist?
A : A naturalist loves wildlife while a naturist takes their clothes off
I am a naturalist (not a naturist!) and I love to travel. Recent trips have been to Europe and South America to see the bird life. I have been to South Africa on safari and to India to see tigers and leopards. I belong to the RSPB, regularly going out bird watching, and to Rochdale Field Naturalists with whom I go out walking several times a month.
I enjoy reading - both real books (from the library) and on my Kindle. I like going to the cinema and support the local theatres. I like singing and belong to Manchester Community Choir. I am a member of the local pub quiz team but don't get many answers right :( but it's fun.
I am interested in family history and have discovered quite a lot recently from the records at the Central Library in Manchester. I am a member of the National Trust and enjoy visiting their properties. I was at Rufford Old Hall just before Christmas. My interest in history has led me to visit Russia, Venice and Istanbul recently to see all the churches and mosques, palaces and museums - fascinating.
I retired in 2015 and like most retired people, wonder how I had the time to go to work.
I feel that I am kind and loyal, and I care deeply about the causes I support. My friends tell me I am honest, reliable and a good listener. I would like to increase my circle of friends and to extend my experience of life.
About her ideal match
I am looking for a friend and companion. If it develops further, then that would be a bonus. This person should have similar interests to myself and be happy to accompany me on my activities as well as socially. I am willing to try new activities in response.
However I am not into sport in any way and football is a definite "no no". Politics and religion could also be deal breakers.
I would like to meet a kind, caring man with a sense of humour. I have always liked men with beards , but that is not a pre-requisite for our friendship.
Is there someone out there who would like to come with me on a trip out? Maybe a walk, a theatre/cinema visit or a day out?
