About her
I am a positive, resilient, person with a range of interests including sailing, skiing, walking, theatre, reading, listening to music - and recently cycling. Having just signed up for a 100 mile charity ride I'm busy trying to increase my fitness and endurance. One of my three grown up children lives very near me, with husband and 2 little girls. All three have happy and stable relationships and lovely kids - I have 7 grandchildren now and family is very important to me. My husband of 40 years died at 64 of coronary artery disease (he was Type 1 diabetic) in 2012. I have done well on my own, but now feel a need for some closer companionship. I enjoy good food but prefer to cook for myself and friends - or, even better, be cooked for. I generally find "eating out" to be poor value for money and don't do it much.
I live in a beautiful location on Chichester Harbour. My friends would describe me as enthusiastic, fun, honest, strong, self-reliant, analytical, capable and untidy. Before taking early retirement I worked as a senior civil servant in London and abroad.
I have learned to be suspicious of perfectionists and would describe myself as an imperfectionist. I like to live as ethically as possible but (being an imperfectionist) don't take anything to extremes.....
Honesty is exceptionally important to me. I would have no time for anyone who dissembled or lied in their profile! And having said that, I will end this profile by confessing that I snore - terribly!!!!
About her ideal match
My ideal match would share many of my qualities including honesty, an enjoyment of outdoor activities, an appreciation of music. He would enjoy both eating the food I cook for him and preparing something tasty - but probably quite simple - for me. As well as sharing some of my interests he would enjoy travel and holidays (but maybe not long cruises on enormous ships, which don't interest me one bit). I'd be impressed if he was willing to read about a new destination, and perhaps learn a little of a local language to make this more interesting.
He would probably prefer to watch a good film at home, with a glass of wine, than to spend an evening in a pub or go out for an expensive meal in a restaurant.
He would be part of a happy, lively, family and be ready to become part of mine. Finally he would be somebody who, like me, is rarely bored.
