About him
It hasn't always been an easy journey, getting to this point, but we learn and are defined by our experiences; I wouldn't change a thing. I am proud of what I have achieved, not least in successfully bringing up two children as effectively a single parent whilst pursuing a challenging career. My friends and those who have worked with me describe me as strong and resilient, empathetic and compassionate; high on the spectrum of "emotional intelligence". I am loyal and am protective about those I care for. I am a good listener. Whilst being a romantic at heart I am first and foremost pragmatic. I am all for pursuing dreams and grand schemes, but only if the rent is also getting paid. I keep fit through cycling, walking, gym and swimming and eat healthily. However, I am very much a believer in looking after the mind too and happy to indulge to that end from time to time! Good food and wine is one of life's real pleasures in my view. I enjoy all kinds of music and am not tied or averse to any particular genres. If it sounds good, I like it! Increasingly though, Classical has been my thing. I also enjoy reading fiction and films and theatre - how I have missed the theatre! I am feeling strong and healthy and good about myself these days and looking to start and embark on new challenges, meet new people and in time meet that special person.

My ideal match would be self-reliant and her own person. However, she would be kind, understanding and compassionate. She would appreciate and realise the benefit of being in a strong, loyal and mutually supportive relationship. She would have a good sense of humour and appreciation of irony, but would also have a serious and contemplative side.
