About him
I am a multi-faceted gentleman, an academic, experienced engineer and a dedicated father. I am a musician a brass band enthusiast, a freelance tuba player playing for many premier brass bands. I enjoy travel and reading any books associated with travel. I am passionate about Formula 1 motor racing and enjoy outdoor activities especially hill walking and scrambling, golf and fishing.
Having gained a Doctorate in Research in Electrical Engineering and being awarded Chartered Engineer Status, I now practice as a Forensic/Consultant Engineer and Professional Expert Witness, working directly with solicitors, barristers, insurance companies, companies in general and private individuals. My work means I often have to give testimony evidence in Court from International and Crown Courts to County Courts.
My job is immensely rewarding, and interesting. I gain much from my job, yet importantly I am now satisfied and grateful for the years and hard work undertaken to gain my experience and qualifications. I smile at this thought, since at the time it was like having a tooth pulled! Having said all that, I consider that I am very much a down to earth guy, coming from Yorkshire, ‘I say what I see’, yet being understanding I attempt to do this in a tactful and sincere manner. I enjoy a pint,.. or two in the pub watching footie or most sports and like to travel to enjoy live sport and the atmosphere that comes with the experience.
I love all types of music and am a brass musician playing in a premier brass band in Yorkshire. The pastime is wonderful, not only the music making yet the friendship and opportunities the hobby can bring, if we can refer to it as a hobby, I sometimes wonder. I love to listen to live music performance of all levels of standard and of type since I believe and duly want to support people who have the skill and courage to entertain others. I consider music to be a wonderful entity, powerful in communication, and therapeutic for body and mind.
About his ideal match
I would like to meet a Lady, someone who is reserved, elegant and eloquent. Someone who has an opinion on matters yet has understanding and can accept alternative viewpoints whilst continuing to uphold personal differing opinion.
I would like to meet a Lady who likes to travel, likes to try new things, experience new cuisines and cultures. Has an ‘adventurous’ streak and is someone who at times likes to lead rather than be ‘to be lead’
I have to admit that I like and enjoy the finer ‘things’ that life can offer, yet I am pleased that I can gain much enjoyment from the simple and wholesome. I come from an ordinary, wholesome background with a grounded upbringing which I think has served me well, latterly in life yet more so now. I am proud of these traits and would look for these in the Lady I would like to meet and spend time with.
Finally I look to meet a Lady who is well rounded in character, a sincere person, a loving, caring, loyal and understanding person, someone who is gregarious yet equally happy in less convivial environments and times.
I use the term ‘Lady’ since I think I have described my understanding of the attributes of a ‘Lady’, not of a woman, since I consider all women not to be Ladies.
