About her
Most of my hobbies are based around history - I love visiting medieval churches, castles, and military sites. I have a passion for researching and writing about social history. I have written and had published 8 social history books. Two more are currently in my head/fully researched notes, waiting to be written up as a properly functioning books.
I’m also a keen amateur gardener - which keeps me fit. I like to eat healthily and I go to the gym regularly.
Whilst my tv viewing habits tend to revolve around cultural/historical/documentary programmes, I do like to indulge in British crime tv such as Line of Duty, Broadchurch etc.
I’m a keen music lover - although I no longer play myself (back in the day got to Grade 8 standard on the piano). Love all types of classical music, and also the old groups such as Genesis, ELO, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits etc.
Professionally I worked for 30 years in the City of London within corporate IT but am fortunate to now be retired.
I try to be a "cup half full" and am an optimistic person. I'm very much a person that is "what you see, is what you get". I hate drama, confrontation, rudeness and grumpiness. I am a very easy-going and laid back person.
I love to travel - in this country and abroad. Since lockdown ended, I have travelled abroad to Sicily, Norway, Pompeii and Nice - along with many breaks around the U.K. including a wonderful boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads with my son.
I am very family oriented with 3 adult children (2 flown the nest, youngest is currently short-term boomeranging home for a couple of months). I also have 4 grandsons - who have me twisted round their little fingers and I love spending time with them.

I would love to meet a kind, genuine and honest classical music-loving man who enjoys wandering around ancient monuments, or church-crawling, or visiting museums/galleries.
Or wandering the coastal paths of England. The wild Essex coast is literally on my doorstep and I love nothing better then a wander along the saltmarshes - it would be lovely to have some company
I would love to share adventures travelling the world together.
Or, cosy weekends away in country hotels sipping gin by a roaring log fire would be just divine!
