I'm a longtime journalist for a major media company, having reported from overseas and Chicago. I recently took a year off from journalism and moved to Texas to write a book. I'm curious and treasure good conversation with other thoughtful, well-read individuals. My friends might see me as a bit of a skeptic generally, but I'm a cheerful, good-humored one. I value integrity and curiosity, and those who revel in learning. I jog regularly and have run more than half-a-dozen marathons over the last decade. Fav composers: Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Pärt, Satie, Lennon, McCartney, Miles Davis. A big fan of tenor Jussi Bjorling. Go-to symphonic pieces include Mahler's Adagietto; Beethoven's 7th, 2nd Movement; Satie's Gymnopédies and Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D minor. My favorite writers include Orwell, Dostoevsky, Royko, Hitchens, Mencken, Dahl and Twain.

I'd enjoy a good conversationalist, as well as someone who likes classical music or is at least interested in cultivating an appreciation for it. Among the attributes I admire most in a person is an intense curiosity about the world around them, someone who enjoys learning for its own sake _ but is also light-hearted and fun-loving. I appreciate spontaneity. Not a fan of dogmatism.
