About him
I've been told I'm fun to be with. However, being unclear on my positive qualities, I asked one of my closest women friends over some 40 years. Here are her words: "Intelligent, kind, generous, loyal, sensitive, caring, aware." Who am I to disagree? I would perhaps add humour, emotional intelligence and openness. Sadly, I've temporarily misplaced my modesty! Oh, and I value wisdom and playfulness...
Most of my working life was spent in working independently in adult education where my subject was the people skills of subjective experience. I was a trainer, consultant, coach and author. I enjoyed working with people enormously and count myself fortunate to have been able to earn my living in such a satisfying way.
I may be a tad unconventional, having been into various alternative projects. One of my favourite things to do is enjoying quality conversations with close friends. I read a lot, fiction and non-fiction. I've designed a large and attractive subtropical garden in a lovely secluded valley in the Welsh hills. I love boats and being on the water, especially in wild estuaries. I practise meditation, Tai Chi and journalling - more often than not...
I'm looking for a friendship that grows through intimacy into a mature and loving relationship to enjoy sharing the fruits of the autumn of life.

I've known my dear friend John for about 40 years and feel we're more like brother and sister. It's one of those friendships where you just pick up wherever you are in life as though it were yesterday!
I can truly echo all the good qualities that John has used to describe himself in his personal description. Playful yes, humorous yes, emotionally intelligent yes, personal integrity yes, generous yes, open and self-aware yes! So the list goes on!
John is a sensitive, thoughtful, gentle, kind and loving man. Tenderness is a quality rarely mentioned it seems and I have no doubts that in a close loving relationship John will bring loving tenderness and care for that lucky woman.
John brings with him a strong motivation to create a relationship which can work for both him and a partner/companion in a couple. Like us all he's learned through previous relationships and he brings both experience and insight to any new relationship. Mutual openness and honesty are qualities that John will bring to any relationship and that I know he will also value these qualities from the person opposite him.
I would describe John as a peace loving man who also has the skills to work in an emotionally detached way through the inevitable areas of conflicts that can arise between people.
John's life as it is now continues to reflect his love of natural life and the environment. He's created a wonderful garden in a quiet spot in the Welsh countryside. I'm reminded of an elfin spirit as he creates a colourful array of plants and trees!
