Well, I suppose that's up to them. I can only relate who I am (or, at least, who I think I am) and then they can decide. My adult daughter told me that I'm a straight male version of Elizabeth Bennet. Pretty accurate if I'm honest with myself. My great loves: Mozart, Handel, the smell of wood smoke on a crisp winter day, coffee brewed from freshly ground beans, cozy pubs that serve good food, little chlidren, dogs, Shakespeare, and authentic, caring people. I'm fond of the Stoics - especially Epictetus and Seneca. I think Simone de Beauvoir got it right when I comes to relationships (and she was smarter than Jean Paul Sartre). The only meaning in life is that which we ourselves create. That pretty much sums up my philosophical outlook. I cannot resist the primal appeal of AC/DC's "Back in Black." Add to the list Hank Williams (Senior), Patsy Cline, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, the Ramones, and the Talking Heads. Movies: Casablanca, Dr. Strangelove, Lawrence of Arabia, The Third Man, and (yes, I'll admit it) It's a Wonderful Life. Physical stuff: bicycling, skiing (both Nordic and downhill, though I'm not good at the latter), hiking. Travel off the beaten path.

Points for noticing that my headline is cribbed from E.M. Forster. What I'm looking for: Integrity, honesty, and authenticity (life is too short for anything less). I'm a sucker for great conversationalists. Sense of humor is an absolute must. I need to be physically attracted to my match, but I don't have any arbitrary criteria. I'm in decent shape and would like my partner to be the same. Deal breakers: Conservatism - political, social, or religious. What makes a relationship work? Trust, communication, honesty and affection. Add in doses of curiousity and spontaneity.
