About him
Hi there. I’m a positive and (mostly) relaxed individual, quiet initially but with a good sense of humour and mischievous tendencies. I’m pretty laid back - I’ve had enough “interesting moments” to know not to worry about the minor stuff too much. I’m not looking for a particular type, but it would be nice to find chemistry with someone who has broad interests, and is reasonably confident and independent.
I enjoy learning, seeing new places and trying new things. I can’t sing but I do have 3 degrees. I’ve been lucky enough to travel a fair bit, and I’ve taken part in 4 expeditions to (mostly) remote areas doing a mix of charity, science and adventure. My CV is an eclectic collection of roles including switchboard operator, factory worker, lorry driver, scientist, travel agent, consultant, and a senior manager in aviation and telecoms. I currently work for the NHS in a middle-management role, and feel very privileged to be in such an interesting environment with so many amazing people.
I enjoy good conversation, especially over a nice meal and a drink. I love cooking for someone who enjoys a variety of food, especially if they’re patient and don’t mind it being served rather late.
When it comes to hobbies I mostly run, cycle, DIY, garden and cook. In the past I’ve enjoyed messing about in boats, diving, trekking, skiing, ultramarathons, and I flew light aircraft for many years until both lady luck and the bank suggested I try alternative pastimes.
I’m really happy to meet for a relaxed coffee to see how it goes. I’ll come across as quiet and very polite initially, but the real me has a good sense of fun and a definite naughty streak. It would be nice to find someone to share great times with.
