Writer, lecturer, linguist and literacy specialist, trainer and pro bono teacher. Recently widowed. Gregarious and enthusiastic in the right company, but independently-minded, so don't always go with the flow, though this is also sometimes the right thing to do. I work closely with children and their parents - they have become a kind of extended family to me - but would not imagine that having children at my age would be sensible. I play golf (not very well...) and my late wife and I had a Dalmatian.. I help with a charity for older people, and with parish council. Learning to work with a large-ish garden. I enjoy classical music, melodic jazz, French and German popular music and swing. Became a fan of Sir Thomas Allen through my wife, who was at school with him.
