About him
I have just turned 76, but with a younger mindset. After public school and university my career was in the law as a solicitor. I also had an active sporting and family life, with two children. I played rugby, golf, and was Chairman of my cricket club for over 20 years. I`ve travelled a bit. Keen to visit more places generally. I enjoy rural living - the pub, cricket, rugby, and music. I`m still knowledgeable and alert. I play lawn bowls during the summer. Too much sport has left me with walking difficulties. I can relate to anyone with similar issues. I can still do the things I want to do, and went on a cruise on my own only a few weeks ago. My wife died last year. Living alone has been a steep learning curve. I`m now competent enough in running my home, but find life without a companion unfulfilling. I`m a rotten cook, and do appreciate a good home-cooked meal! Really miss those Sunday roasts. I`m thankful for the loyal devotion of my elderly Yorkshire Terrier. He keeps me to a routine! There are still things to achieve, and with the right person, there is fun to be had. I`m honest, sincere and dependable, and generally easy going. I play a few instruments, and occasionally perform locally. I like to write, and I send monthly eclectic articles to my local Parish Magazine. They vary from history to satirical and humorous. I think I do have that oh so important sense of humour that so many of you mention, even if it means, sometimes, being cheeky & rude. After all, we`re all grown-ups. This profile is but a brief outline. There is so much more that I could say.
29/8/24 I`d like to stress that I believe with honest and open messaging you can get to know a fair bit more about each other. Also, location is important so within 20 miles of Canterbury, give or take, would be great. My dog is old and I don`t like to leave him for long periods.
