About him
A former police detective and commercial pilot, I'm now retired and living comfortably. I consider myself 'old school', believing in old fashioned values and courtesies.
Well educated, well spoken and well travelled, I've visited such countries as Madagascar, Madeira, Hong Kong, Egypt, Cyprus and most European countries. I visit Rome each year and I've lived and worked in Germany, Australia, the USA and Spain.
I enjoy city breaks and foreign travel, staying away from the main tourist areas, enjoying the intimacy of back street trattorias.
I hope to visit South America and Asia and see New York from the deck of an ocean liner.
Enjoying the simple things in life I have everything I need, but I do treat myself occasionally.
Interests include golf, F1, rugby, theatre, cinema, hiking, cycling, keeping fit, film photography, motorcycling and horse riding, sailing, and listening to jazz (e.g. Coltrane, Parker, Monk, Miller), big band swing, Latino, classical music and rock.
I don't have pets but I like cats and love horses.
I read a great deal and books I've enjoyed include 'Bird Song', 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin', 'Great Expectations', 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', 'A Tale Of two Cities' and 'The Moon's A Balloon'.
I played the clarinet and taught myself to play tenor saxophone.
Not a heavy drinker I enjoy single malt Scotch whisky (GlenLivet, 12 years old) and gin and tonic.
I visit London often, either for a day or an overnight stay if I’m going to the theatre or a jazz club.
I have a relaxed outlook on life, am independent, have no need to prove myself and have an abundance of wonderful memories of my experiences and achievements.
I take responsibility and like to laugh and enjoy life.
Communication, honesty and consideration are, for me, vital in a relationship.

A lady, first and foremost but I have no 'ideal' match. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and from there everything else will fall into place. Or not!
I like a person to have good conversational skills, so we can chat about everything and nothing and laugh at the same time. I am interested in someone who has something to say about her life and experiences and would like to share them with an interested party.
