About him
My friends would probably describe me as gregarious, friendly and chatty. I love to have regular contact with my family in London and California. I’m reasonably fluent in French, having friends in France where my late brother lived for more than 30 years. I enjoy DIY, cooking, baking - I’ve developed quite a repertoire of recipes collected over the years and adapted for single portions or batch cooking for the freezer. I’m coping and adapting to ‘widowhood’ after nearly 4 years, but I’d really be much happier with a like-minded close friend and companion who’d like to share the good things in life, both home and away. I enjoy entertaining friends to a meal from time to time and they keep coming back for more, so I’m doing OK. I enjoy gardening in my long south facing rear garden, tending flower beds with colourful perennials and growing a variety of fruit and veg on a smallish plot. I’m a ‘fair weather’ walker and enjoy country and coastal walks.
I’ve loved travelling abroad and have fond memories of holidays in Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, France, Italy and the USA.
Music brings my house to life and I listen to a wide variety, traditional Irish, rock and classical and often have my ever growing Spotify mix of favourites from the 60s to the present. I like to think I’m quite upbeat about life, much better in spring, summer and autumn than in winter, and even better when I have company!

I’m looking for that someone special, for the companionship and affection of someone who would be easy going, with a positive outlook on life and a sense of humour, enjoying meals, walks, music, theatre and cinema and short breaks away. I’ve always loved Cornwall since childhood but I’m equally fond of the Yorkshire Dales and the North East. Venturing further afield into Scotland appeals to me. So much scope to enjoy with that special person.
