Former publishing person who changed career in midlife, Londoner, nearly 65, and very much not winding down.
I like clever, funny people, beautiful places, old buildings, good clothes, long lunches, France, interesting work and conversations that go somewhere unexpected. I’m equally capable of becoming absorbed in psychoanalysis, architecture or a question I didn’t know I was interested in until five minutes ago.
I’m independent, sociable, affectionate and curious. I have a full life of my own and I’d like someone who has one too. I’m not looking for somebody to complete me, rescue me or organise me. I’d like to meet someone who adds something unexpected to the mix.
I know myself pretty well by now, but there are still places I haven’t been, things I haven’t done, people I haven’t met and an awful lot of dinners I haven’t eaten.

I’m drawn to intelligence, humour, kindness and people who are genuinely interested in the world. A bit of irreverence helps. So does being able to disagree without turning it into the Battle of Agincourt.
I like people who can tolerate complexity. Certainty is overrated, pomposity is fatal, and bullshit has a regrettably short life expectancy in my vicinity.
