I'm engaging, understanding and affectionate and I enjoy sharing a wry sense of humour and nuanced conversation.
Working in business as a management problem-solver was very rewarding but I would like to pursue my interests in cultural areas like music, novels, drama and cinema and also explore European cities and coasts. I love ideas and intellectual discovery and I like places where people have lived in the past and have left something of themselves behind.
As for day-to day activities, I am also practical. I have a fine house and I enjoy looking after it. I miss the social life that one can have as a couple but I'm also happy to have a quiet evening in with a DVD or some good music.
A relationship has a life of its own, I think, and I'm willing to see where it leads, but I've spent my adult life in stable ones, so that's my natural habitat. The main photo is my latest passport one, so no photoshopping allowed and no smiling either! The one with a suitably attentive grandson is more animated.
It might help you to know that among my favourite songs of all time are The first time I ever saw your Face by Roberta Flack and Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra. How romantic is that?

A woman who is loyal and thoughtful, as well as being good company and having some depth and focus. Someone with an active mental life and interests that are partly shared and partly complementary to mine, so that we can enrich one another.
Some interest in books, plays and films, and musical tastes that include classical would be good, as would a sense of irony. I'm into literature and films in French as well as English but I don't need the language side to be shared.
I should add that I enjoy most of the things that everyone else does, my musical tastes are fairly eclectic and I'm a sucker for good eyes and a trim figure. I like natural looks, so I don't mind grey hair.
I get on fairly well on my own, so what do I miss? A friend and soulmate and a quality relationship, where we accept each other's strengths and weaknesses and try to fulfil our potential.
